Meiji "The Great"

Meiji was a former Japanese emperor known as Meiji-taitei (#Meiji_the_great).

He relocated the capital of Japan from Kyoto to Tokyo. Japanese industrial revolution began during his ruling time (1868-1912). Actually he is the founder of the modern day Japan.

He started to connect whole Japan by rail, and that's why (may be) Japan has the finest rail transport system over the world.

In the meantime, he changed the the typical education system to a new Western-based education system for all young people. He sent thousands of students to the USA and Europe, and hired many specialists to teach modern science, mathematics, technology, etc. for the young Japanese.

These few steps taken by the great Meiji that ultimately built the modern Japan.

Meiji-mura, a village of historical open air museum displaying over sixty buildings from the Meiji Period (1868-1912).
